The Ministry of Environment is hosting the 2nd Anti-waste Fair on Saturday and Sunday in collaboration with Municipality of Quatre Bornes

Mauritius: The Ministry of Environment is hosting the 2nd Anti-waste Fair on Saturday and Sunday. Municipality of Quatre Bornes is collaborating with the Ministry for the two day event. The organization will hoste the event 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Municipality of Quatre Bornes.

The opening ceremony for the event be hosted on July 6. Minister of Environment, Kavydass Ramano and other eminent personalities of Malawi will particiate at the event.

The The objective of this fair is to raise public awareness of the circular economy. The organizers wan to educate the people of the nation the importance of proper waste management. The aim of the project is to inform the people that instead of throwing away some of the waste products, they can be recycled and reused

The organization also sought to buy somebuy eco-friendly and nature-friendly products to do their part in protecting the environment. The leaders of the nation have shared that it is very important for the people of the country to contribute to fighting climate change

Waste management is a highly crucial part of the nation’s wellbeing. The second edition of the Anti Waste Fair will also promote the practice of using after repairing.

The organizers will offer the attendants of the event advise for repairs and maintenance.

The topics on which the attendants can seek advice from the experts include repairs of electrical appliances, furniture, solar water heaters, and clothing among others. The MITD technicians will bee present at the event to guide the youngsters.

The repair corner will train attendants in:

  • Basic repair of household appliances. computers cell phones.
  • Minor repair of plumbing parts
  • The corner will also feature demonstration Sessions on Circularity and Innovation in Product Manufacturing by the Mauritius Prison Service

The event will include a Donation corner for items to be reused where people can donate Clothes, shoes, toys and other amenities in good condition to give to families in need through an NGO.

The anti-waste event will also include a Recycling corner and sale of the recycled products. The public can also bring plastic bottles and containers, cans, CDs, newspapers, magazines, cardboard and paper and place them in the bins provided for this purpose in the recycling corner

Further, ecological and recycled products such as products made from vacoa and coconut fibers and furniture made from recycled pallets, local products with recycled or recovered materials will be available and on sale during these two days.
