Mauritius: The Mauritius Film Development Corporation (MFDC) hosted the award ceremony for the Second Edition of the Inter-Primary Short Film Competition 2023. MFDC hosted the event in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science, and Technology.
Mahatma Gandhi Institute in Moka served as thee venue for the celebration of creativity organized on Tuesday. Mare d’Albert Government School and Brisée Verdière Government School were crowned winners of the competition.
The two schools emerged at the top of two categories, namely Public Vote Award and Jury Award respectively. The event was graced by several members of the government who attended with the aim of encouraging the creatives of Mauritius.
The film and entertainment industry can easily flourish into a booming sector in light of the nation’s natural beauty and scenic environment, which can serve as a remarkable backdrop for films. It is important for the stakeholders to continue to encourage youngsters to take up creative persuit.
The awards event aimed at encouraging creativity among primary school students and providing an opportunity for young Mauritians to showcase their latent talents.

Category: Public Vote-Best Film
1st Prize winner received a cash reward amounting to Rs 50,000 and Trophy. Winners: Mare d’Albert Government School;
2nd Prize winner received the cash prize amounting to Rs 30,000 and a Shield. Winners: Notre Dame de La Confiance RCA
3rd Prize winner received a cash reward amounting to Rs 25,000 and Shield. Winners: Orchard Kids
4th Prize winner received a cash reward amounting to (Rs 20,000 and Shield. Winners: St Thérèse RCA
5th Prize winner received a cash reward amounting to (Rs 15,000 and Shield. Winners: Hugh Otter Barry Government School.
Category: Jury Award – Best Film
1st Prize winner received a cash reward amounting to Rs 50,000 and Trophy. Winners: Brisée Verdiere Government School
2nd Prize winner received a cash reward amounting to Rs 30,000 and Shield. Winners: Henry Buswell Government School
3rd Prize winner received a cash reward amounting to Rs 25,000 and Shield. Winners: Souillac RCA;
4th Prize winner received a cash reward amounting to (Rs 20,000 and Shield. Winners: Seegoolam Torul Government School and
5th Prize winner received a cash reward amounting to Rs 15,000 and Shield Winners: Jawaharlal Nehru Government School.
The winners who performed well in the general categories of the competition were also awarded trophies and shields.
The President of the Republic of Mauritius, Prithvirajsing Roopun was one of the esteemed guests at the awards event. Other attendants include:
