A 36-year-old female has reported injuries during a robbery which happened on Todd Street in Verulam – KZN.

South Africa: A 36-year-old female has reported injuries during a robbery which happened on Todd Street in Verulam – KZN. The Reaction Unit South Africa revealed that the incident notably happened in the afternoon of Sunday.

A passerby contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) at approximately 12:24 requesting assistance. After the officials of the Reaction Unit reached the specified location, they met the victim.

The victim explained the complete incident to the Reaction Officers who were interviewing her. She was confronted by a single suspect who produced a knife and threatened her. He demanded that the victim must hand over her valuables to him.

The victim informed the reaction officers that he robbed her for an iPhone 10 and her handbag. The handbag contained some cash, the total amount of which has not been disclosed  to the reaction officers.

Afterwards, the suspect fled in an unknown direction. Meanwhile, the victim sustained lacerations to both her palms during the scuffle. The reaction officers have started an official investigation into the matter and no developments have been reported.

Further, the people of the country have extended their support to the victim who went through a traumatic experience. Some social media users condemned the suspect for his actions, while others asked the victim to be careful.

One of the social media users shared her own experience of being robbed in an effort to educate the others. She wrote, “I also got robbed last year. The guy pointed the knife at me and asked for my bag, I gave it to him and he didn’t hurt me.”

She further noted that, “I didn’t want to fight him just to die for a phone. Times are bad buy a Nokia instead. You can’t walk around the streets with an iPhone 10 in this country these days.”

According to the people of the country, the situation is especially bad in Verulam. The social media user suggested, “don’t even bother going to the police station to open a case. I did that and it was a waste of time.”
