Kampala police had arrested four men because they broke into the house and raped women before robbing who was staying alone.
As per the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, the criminals armed with pangas broke into the woman’s house in Kawempe. This incident occurred at around midnight before she sexually assaulted the victim, and then they robbed her house items.
After happened so much to her, she immediately reported this incident to the police. Officers from Kawempe Police working with K9 introduced Boela, a dog which helped track down the suspects for a distance of 250m from the crime scene.
The dog joined a structure that was harbouring four men who were arrested immediately after the victim’s identification,” Owoyesigyire said.
He stated that the victim was able to identify Joseph Katabi, Mike Sserwadda, John Musa and the last one identified as Musinguzi by the clothes they were donning during the incident.
As per the Kampala Metropolitician deputy Police spokesperson, the police launched a research warrant, and when they arrived there, they recovered knives, pangas and suspected narcotic substances.
“We have also shown through investigations that the thugs gained access to the victim’s home by jumping over the fence and unbolting her door.
They robbed them of money amounting to 850,000 shillings, a phone and one of her laptops before they sexually assaulted her. The gated houses where she was staying had a security guard, but unfortunately, the guard claims not to have heard anything.”
He further stated that the security guard had been taken to the police for questioning round as investigations into the incident continued.
“We want to thank Boela (sniffer dog) for the determination in tracking down the assailants. The suspects will be arraigned in law courts as soon as investigations are complete.”
