Africa: The MEC for Education, Mr Bonakele Majuba, together with the Deputy Minister for Basic Education, Dr Reginah Mhaule, embarked on an Early Childhood Development, Read to Lead and Second Chance Matric Support Programme Roadshow as part of the build-up to the Presidential Imbizo to be held at Silobela Stadium in Carolina tomorrow.
A total of three schools featured in the roadshow, namely Wesselton Primary School in Msukaligwa Local Municipality (on Wednesday), Amadlelo Aluhlaza and Ubuhlebuzile Secondary Schools in Thandukukhanya, Piet Retief, Mkhondo Local Municipality on Thursday.
The intention of the visit was to conscientize education stakeholders about programmes such as the Early Childhood Development shift from the Department of Social Development as directed by President Cyril Ramaphosa in his 2019 State of the Nation Address.
Parents, communities and education stakeholders were requested to support and participate in these programmes.
The MEC for Education, Mr Bonakele Majuba, encouraged learners to rise to the challenges and make the most of the opportunities that are being provided.
Faith-Based Organizations were part of the Roadshow at Buhlebuzile Secondary School, and they pledged to work side by side with the Department to promote and garner support for education programmes to boost quality teaching and to learn as well as to improve learner performance.

Bonakele Amos Majuba is not only a South African politician but also an educator who has served as the MEC for Education in Mpumalanga since May 2019. A member of the African National Congress, he has been a Member of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature since May 2009.
At the same time, Mhaule is the Deputy Minister of Basic Education in South Africa. She is the Former MEC of Education in the Mpumalanga Provincial Government under the Administration of David Mabuza.
