Saint Lucia: Carnival Planning Committee reveals list of sponsors for National Carnival Queen contestants

Saint Lucia: The Carnival Planning and Management Committee (CPMC), in collaboration with National Carnival Queen Committee, revealed this year’s sponsors for the 10 National Carnival Queen contestants during Sashing Ceremony. The ceremony was held on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at the Landings Resort.

Saint Lucia: The Carnival Planning and Management Committee (CPMC), in collaboration with National Carnival Queen Committee, revealed this year’s sponsors for the 10 National Carnival Queen contestants during Sashing Ceremony. The ceremony was held on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at the Landings Resort.

The ceremony also revealed the name of two wild card entries, Tyler Disulk and Shantel Edward. Saint Lucia Deputy Prime Minister Ernest Hilaire also wished through his social media handler in which he stated: Happening Now is the Sashing Ceremony for the 2023 National Carnival Queen Show.” The National Carnival Queen Pageant will occur on Saturday, July 1, 2023.

The participants and their sponsors for the 69th Annual National Carnival Queen Pageant are as follows:

  • Tyler Disulk – Miss Saint Lucia Investments (Fond Coolie)
  • Akia Chiquot – Miss Laborie Credit Union (Laborie)
  • Maria Edmund Miss Saint Lucia Tourism Authority (Ciceron, Castries)
  • Shantel Edward – Miss 1st National Bank (Bocage, Castries)
  • Aliyel Fontenelle – Miss Harbor Club (Gros Islet)
  • Shanice Butcher – Miss Caribbean Galaxy Real Estate (Bisee, Castries)
  • Jadyn Leonty – Miss Massy Stores (Forestiere, Castries)
  • Bernell St. Rose – Miss BOSL Digital (Soufriere)
  • Leana Lewis – Miss Pierre Marcel (Dennery)
  • Jernais Perineau – Miss FICS (Bois d’Orange, Gros Islet)

The Pageant will be held as part of the activities slated for Saint Lucia Carnival 2023 from July 1-19, 2023.

In the history of Saint Lucia, this is the first time ten contestants will compete because earlier in the show, only eight competes. During the sashing ceremony, contestants and the general public learned which sponsors were assigned to which contestants. The Pageant is one of the most wanted events for Carnival Queen enthusiasts.

According to the Chairperson of the National Carnival Queen Committee, Trevor King, the team is already very excited, especially after the announcement of wild cards, and saw a boost in organisations looking to become this year’s pageant sponsors. 

Moreover, he added that this show is a committee’s effort to deliver a high-quality pageant that is received well.
