Saint Lucia: The prime minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J Pierre attended the AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum 2023. The event was hosted in the people’s republic of Guyana. The event was hosted over the course of the week.
Prime Minister Pierre reiterated the commitment to fostering cultural and educational exchanges. According to him, the aim is to bridge the heritage and histories of Caribbean and Africa.
The government also wants to build solid partnerships between the educational institutions for the exchange of knowledge and research. The prime minister announced that they are making progress in furthering collaboration with Africa.
The African Export-Import Bank is important in helping trade and investment between Africa and the Caribbean. They offer financial instruments and support needed to bring the business communities close.
PM Skerrit announced that the government has entered a Facility Agreement deal with the Afreximbank valued at US $ 6 Million. The funds will be used to renovate school facilities across Saint Lucia, particularly those affected by Tropical Storm Bret.
