This particular event was aimed towards honoring and highlighting the golfers of Kenya. The ministry sought to do so by acknowledging their magnificent feats and hard work in the field.
The Cabinet Secretary also delivered a brief yet significant address at the event. He acknowledged the goal to plug the kids into the sports as a noble endeavour.
“I am impressed by such initiatives geared towards nurturing our juniors from a pretty young age. It’s part of the principles we uphold at #TalantaHela that seeks not only to nurture but also monetize talents. Thus, we guarantee full support.” He remarked.
Further, the Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in Kenya oversaw the reception of 24,000 professional golf balls. The balls were part of a donation by the DP World Tour, the smart logistics provider and title partner of DP World Tour.
The donation from the organization aimed to support and improve Golfing from the grassroots across various clubs in the country.
Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba utilized the session to demystify the elitist nature of golf, vowing to make it a sport for all, noting;
“For a long time, the discipline has been perceived to be for the chosen few. Under our watch, however, we’ll make it as accessible & as practical for as many as possible.”
The Junior Golf Foundation team highlighted their intention to distribute the batch of balls and other golf sets across over 30 clubs currently equipped with 47 coaches ready to instill professional gaming skills to junior golfers from age five upwards.
