KwaZulu Natal (Osindisweni): Two people from Osindisweni – KZN were injured after an alleged drug-related shooting in the morning.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance late morning, and on arrival, Reaction Officers discovered that a 42 year old man was shot on his right leg. A 28 year old sustained minor injuries after he was grazed on his back by a bullet.
According to the victims, they were seated in the yard when a lone gunman opened fire on them. Three spent 9mm cartridges were recovered at the scene. As per the Reaction Unit Officers, the shooting was believed to be drugs related.
Surprisingly, residents of the area were not shocked and bothered about the shooting incident, adding that it is frequent in the area. Some of the locals also said they want to stay away from this kind of issue as they do not want themselves and their families to get involved in this kind of matter.
“Drug related? Very good. Don’t want to know details, said one of the residents named Seelan Logan Perumal.
Drugs in KZN are a very common issue, and that is why the Government of KZN has opened clinics in Durham Hoypark ground (KZN). In the opening ceremony of the clinics, the government invited professionals to educate the youth on drug abuse awareness and the dangers of substance abuse.
The Clinic, named KZN GK Clinic, also extended gratitude to Nkosinathi Khoza, who was invited to talk about his experience as a drug survivor and now a youth motivator.
They also thanked SAFA Ethekwini under President Mazwi Mkhize for endorsing the Academy, Ngwenya KZN PEC, Thami Mchunu, president of KZN Sports Confederation and Alex Sikhosana of KZN Academy of Sports.
