Cape Town: The city is organising the ‘Greatest Hits Tour’ which will be a live concert and will be observed on Thursday, April 18, 2024. The concert will be based on the theme of 80’s pop hits and will be arranged at Green Point A-Track from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
The famous band of 80’s Synth-Pop sensation ‘Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark’ (OMD) will be performing live in Cape Town, next week and will also be performing an opening act at the concert. The band will be performing their hit tracks, such as Sailing on the Seven Seas, Live and Die and If You Leave, which will take you down memory lane.
Interested 80’s pop lovers can take the benefit of giving away three sets of double VIP tickets to experience the legends in action for the Greatest Hits Tour, live in Cape Town. The band will emanate all their popular hit songs, on Thursday, April 18, 2024.
As per the sources, after the recent announcement of their forthcoming new studio album, the synth pioneers Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark (OMD) revealed the details of their return to the stage.
Reportedly, the band took the round across the months of February and March 2024, where OMD played 22 dates across the UK & Ireland. The tour included the biggest-ever London headline show, which was performed at London’s O2 Arena on March 24, 2024, on 100% records.
Notably, the Greatest Hits Tour will be performed by the Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark (OMD) in Johannesburg too and they will also be conducting the South Africa Tour, around the globe next year, in 2025.
Considering this, the frontman of the band OMD – Andy McCluskey said on the South African tour that it has been so far too long since they have played live in South Africa. So, they are really excited to come and perform at the concert in April 2024.
The concert will also randomly select the winners and the competition will gets closed on April 16, 2024, mid-day.
The Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) is an English electronic band that was formed in the Wirral, Merseyside in 1978. The group majorly consists of founding duo and principal songwriters Andy McCluskey who is the vocalist and bass guitarist and Paul Humphreys who plays keyboard and is a vocalist.
The duo forms the band with Martin Cooper, who plays keyboards and saxophone, and Stuart Kershaw, who plays drums.
The band OMD is regarded as pioneers of electronic music, which they combine with an experimental, minimalist ethos and pop sensibilities.
They have become key figures in the emergence of synth-pop, as McClusky and Humphreys introduced the synth-duo format to British popular music.
