Botswana: Botswana Trade Commission (BOTC) held a workshop to educate the business community about the Online Permit Management System (OPMS). The workshop was hosted on Thursday with several members of the business community in attendance.
The workshop is being hosted as a part of the commission’s efforts to enhance service delivery and ensure efficiency. The Botswana Trade Commission has been dedicatedly working towards strengthening the business community of the nation.
The commission has taken the responsibility to promote and support the businesses of the nation. The workshop also sought to bring business owners up to date with modern business practices . The stakeholders of the Botswana Trade Commission also gathered better knowledge about the OPMS.
BOTC Chief Executive Officer Shirley Moncho delivered the opening remarks at the one day workshop. She highlighted that the system, which facilitates the issuance of permits, rebate certificates, and other BOTC services, exemplifies the Commission’s commitment to leveraging technological advancements.

By adopting digital systems, the Commission aims to improve operational efficiency and better meet the evolving needs of its stakeholders. The modern clients need modern solutions for the issues that they encounter in conducting business.
Moncho stated that the OPMS will address issues related to the centralized issuance of permits and inefficiencies in data and information management, thereby providing convenience to the community and allowing access to services from the comfort of their homes.
The Botswana Trade Comission is dedicated to provide an efficient and effective system for the administration. Further, they are also working towards the mandate of facilitation of international trade.
The Commission collaborated with the Digital Transformation and Coordination Office to develop the OPMS. This collaboration aims to enhance the ease of doing business and improve customer interaction through twerhe automation of business processes.
Additionally, the Commission is working with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and First National Bank Botswana (FNB) to support the implementation of the OPMS.
