Botswana: The Minister of Trade and Industry in the government of Botswana, Mmusi Kgafela visited Life Steel Products Proprietary Limited. The visit which took place on Tuesday aimed to appreciate the progress made by the multi-million steel manufacturing factory.

The factory is still under construction at Mmamashia, within the Greater Gaborone planning area. The project is expected to give a significant boost to the economy of the capital city. Several people are currently employed in the construction of the factory.

After the completion of the factory construction project officials have shared that the members of the community will be able to secure employment. They will be able to access better standards of living.

The Botswana Ministry of Trade and Industry has been overseeing the progress of the construction project ever since the beginning. Minister Kgafla’s visit to the construction site is a proof of his and his team’s commitment to supporting growth of industry in the nation.

During his visit, the Minister of Trade and Industry spoke to the stakeholders and offered his sincere appreciation to them seeing the pace of the construction. The Minister commended Life Steel Products and its Management for their enormous contribution to the development of Government strategic infrastructure projects.

Minister Mmusi Kgafela also expressed that he has confidence in Pula Life Steel Products for helping the nation. The products will play an important role in helping to reduce the import bill of the country.

Managing Director of Life Steel Products, Zhongwen Hu appreciated the Minister of Trade and Industry for his visit. He said the investment in the project is P350 million Pula and when in full operation it will employ 500 people.

The government believes that the project will contribute significantly to job creation for locals.

Life Steel Products is a sister company to a well-known established Steel Galaxy company which deals with steel products. The steel plant will bring new products in the market upon its completion in six (6) months and even export some of its steel based products to neighbouring countries.
