Botswana: The Minister of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture in Botswana. Tumiso Rakgare attended a fundraising dinner. The invitation was extended on behalf of Bakgatla Ba Ga Mmanaana Cultural Society.

The aim of the festival was to help in promoting the Sekgatla culture and bringing it back to its former glory. The event was hosted under the theme- ‘Ngwao mo metlheng ya segompieno, a re sireletseng segarona!’
The event was attended by a variety of leaders who celebrated the culture of the people and honor their history. The opening remarks for the event was delivered by Kgosi Gobuamang of the Bakgatla.
She said that the aim of this dinner was to raise funds towards their 10 years anniversary cultural celebration. The celebration was hosted on the 16th of November 2024 in Marotobalo.
She highlighted that the anniversary celebration soars exemplify to the upcoming generation on the importance of embracing our culture in our communities through our traditional cuisine, music and attire.
Further, The MYSC Minister, Tumiso Rakgare cemented that this event serves a purpose of more than just celebrating but is an opportunity for us to reflect on the rich cultural heritage of the Bakgatla community. Such milestones deserve to be treated with honor and dignity they embody.
The Bakgatla Ba Ga Mmanaana festival seeks to promote our heritage and tourism in alignment of the government of Botswana’s reset agenda and its focus on value chains. The festival will create job opportunities for those in the creative industry together with attracting more local and international audience.

Rakgare urged Batswana ba ga Mmanaana to give full support to the working team and actively participate in the preparations in what promises to be a historic event. We must seize this platform to showcase the cultural diversity that Botswana is proud of.
