Botswana: The President of Botswana, Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi has inaugurated the the revamped Gaborone Central Police Station. The inauguration of the police station was hosted today with the support and presence of several new dignitaries.

The inauguration of the police station highlighted the government’s focus on improving security infrastructure under Vision 2036. The Commissioner of Police, Dinah Marathe was also present at the launch event for the police service.

The Mayor of Gaborone City Austin Abraham was also one of the guests at the inauguration for the event. He thanked the Police service for extending their services to the people of Gaborone

The President as well as the members of the community were delighted with the new development. The revamping of the Gaborone Central Police Station will add significantly to the capacity of the Botswana Police Service.

The Mayor said that as the city grows in its prominence, they will need better working relationships with Botswana Police Service. Meanwhile, Dr. Masisi highlighted that the upgraded facility will enhance police productivity and help ensure public safety.

All these factors, according to the President of Botswana are extremely important for the economic growth of the country. The President said that the government is continuously putting their efforts to invest in national security.

He said that national security plays a vital role in Trade and Economic development. He said police resources and infrastructure contribute to the creation of a safe and secure environment.

The president also talked about how his government continues to invest in police infrastructure and modern law enforcement technologies, such as drone surveillance and cyber forensics.

Afterwards, the President had taken the opportunity for addressing issues like gender-based violence and drug-related crimes. President Dr. Masisi called for collective action, and praised the “Adopt-A-Police-Station” initiative, for boosting public-private cooperation, and concluded by urging citizens to vote responsibly in the upcoming elections.

The refurbished station aims to improve service delivery for both local and international communities.
