St Kitts: The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew has lauded the Ministry of Agriculture for the commissioning of the Bayford’s Layer Chicken Breeder Farm and Hatchery. The Ministry of Agriculture has been dedicated to the development and betterment of the sector.
The Ministry has also procured new farm equipment for the realization of the administration’s long term goals. The Prime Minister is delighted with the efforts made by the Minister of Agriculture, Samal Duggins.
The commissioning of the Bayford’s Layer Chicken Breeder Farm and Hatchery and the procurement of the equipment was made possible due to the support of the Republic of China (Taiwan). The Agriculture ministry has been working towards reducing international food imports by 25% till December 2025.
The support of Republic of China (Taiwan) has been instrumental to the achievement of this goal. The breeder farm and hatchery will help in improving the island’s self-sufficiency. The officials have shared that the members of the community have also extended their best wishes to Minister Samal Duggins.
The Minister has claimed that the hatchery is a strategic addition to the agriculture sector. The Minister shared that it will help in reducing the nation’s dependence on the international poultry farms.
The officials have shared that the new development will also serve as a sustainable model for future development. PM Terrance Drew extended his sincere gratitude to Taiwan for their support and partnership for the commissioning.
The hatchery will be quipped with the highest quality of technical resources and infrastructure. The project will deliver high quality of chicks. The project will help in empowering the local farmers of the island and improve the poultry sector significantly.
The support of the international partners such as Taiwan has been crucial for the development of the self reliant. The members of the community have shared that they are delighted with the developments in the agriculture sector.
