Cape Town: Sea Point Fire Station gets new look. Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis and Alderman JP Smith visited the Sea Point Fire Station to survey the recent upgrades to the facility.
Reportedly, the Fire Station of Sea Ponit is one of the oldest in Cape Town and was built dates back in 1932. Upon counting, the total cost of the renovation project amount came out as R7,861,597.09. It took over two financial years 2024-25 and is 95% complete now.
As per the sources, some of the renovations to the main building included painting, roof replacement, tiling, updating electrical infrastructure, new gutters and repairs to cracks along the building facade.

Furthermore, during the planning and implementation stage, the conservation of the heritage status and architectural features were top of mind as the fire station is an important landmark in Sea Point.
Considering this, Member of the Mayoral Committee for Safety and Security – Alderman JP Smith said that the Fire and Rescue Service team of Cape Town has a long and proud history in Cape Town. Also, they have the responsibility to maintain and preserve the Fire Station.
Fire Stations of the City of Cape Town are beacons of hope for the communities in times of emergencies, and it is important for communities to know that they are well maintained. JP Smith will also ensure to continue providing services for those in need for generations to come.

Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis also shared a post related to this. He shared the glimpses from his visit to the Sea Point Fire Station. While sharing the post on his official social media handle, he said, “Have you seen how beautiful the Sea Point Fire Station is looking? This lovely old heritage building is now fully restored, and looking stunning.”
“I’m very grateful to see our teams preserve its long history, while keeping our community safe!” added Lewis.
