Namibia: A tragic incident unfolded in the Omdel location of Henties Bay, Namibia, on Friday night, Sept 26, 2025. A sister stabbed her own brother which later resulted in his death. It is identified that the victim is a 25-year-old man who was fatally stabbed by a 32-year-old sister during a heated argument at their residence on Hendrick Witbooi Street around 11:20 p.m.
According to the reports claimed by the Senior Inspector, named Judith Shomongula of the Erongo police, the dispute began when the sister of the victim returned home from a bar in an intoxicated state, and when she noticed her mother and her brother in the home.
The police reports further said that, after sometime the sister noticed an altercation erupted between the mother and her son, and shortly after that the situation became worse when the son allegedly assaulted his mother, as he was striking his own mother on the forehead with an unknown object.
While trying to stop her brother, the drunk sister intervened in the assault and in that process of stopping him, she allegedly picked a knife and stabbed her brother on the right side of his neck.
Later, the Life Link paramedic ambulance was contacted and they immediately responded to the scene and when they arrived they noticed that the victim had sustained a severe injury and observing his condition they immediately transported him to the Henties Bay Clinic.
Due to the severe injuries the victim received, medical staff suggested to transfer him to Swakopmund State Hospital, where he was getting treatment but later on he succumbed to his wounds, as medical staff declared him dead.
Authorities also disclosed that the 32-year-old suspect, the victim’s sister, was arrested at the scene as the officials charged her for the murder. Further, the officials stated that she is expected to appear in the Swakopmund Magistrate’s Court on Monday, Sept 29, 2025.
The police further stated that the investigation is looking into the matter, and the authorities are working to place together the events surrounding the incident. The officials also assured the public that they are doing their best to protect the people of their country.
The community is left shaken by this tragic turn of events, as this highlight the devastating consequences of domestic disputes between the family. The public is very traumatised with this incident and they stand with the sister strongly. The people are saying that the sister did not do anything bad, she was just protecting her mother, they also said that they hope the magistrate will not punish her according to the murder charges as she was helping her mother.
