Cape Town: Roadworks in several city areas have begun. The City of Cape Town is resurfacing the roads in Kleinvlei, Eerste River and Kuils River that has commenced and is scheduled to continue until Dec 18, 2025.
Reportedly, the Roads Infrastructure Management of the City of Cape Town – Director Rob Quintas, Councillor Ursula Barends and Councillor Frans Sauls visited Eerste River to assess the progress of the ongoing roadworks on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
Considering this, Member of the Mayoral Committee for Urban Mobility – Councillor Rob Quintas said that to keep Cape Town moving, the city must carry out the essential road resurfacing projects.
Quintas thanked the residents and road users for their patience and understanding while this important work takes place. The roads in Eerste River are being resurfaced with new asphalt layers, damaged kerbs are being replaced, and all road markings will be reinstated once the project is complete. They are pleased that the work has started smoothly and they are looking forward to improved road conditions once they get finished.
During this renovation period, the Roads Infrastructure Management teams of the City of Cape Town will carry out the work in Kleinvlei and Kuild River, which will affect the roads that are listed below:
- Kleinvlei – Raymond Ackerman Avenue; Albert Philander Way; Gousblom Avenue; Vygie Avenue; Watsonia Street; Ghaap Street; Namakwa Street and Daisy Street
- Kuils River – Fabriek Road in front of the driving licence testing centre in Kuils River Industria; Assegaaibos Street and Waboom Street in Rouxville as well as Mission Road and Kappertjie Street in Sarepta
- Eerste River – Shakespeare Road; Avon Road; August Street; Ceres Street; Tafelberg Road; Melton Road; Pine Crescent and Andromeda Street
Furthermore, the road users of the city are urged to factor in longer travel time and to consider alternative routes while roadworks are still underway.
