Dominica has been officially selected as a beneficiary of the ‘World Athletics Aim Beyond’ initiative that aims to construct the World Athletics Class-1 synthetic track and field facility.
Dominica Athletics Association (DAA) marked this collaboration as a historic moment for Dominica’s Athletics. This achievement follows two years of strategic planning, technical assessments and dedicated collaboration which includes the submission of a comprehensive proposal to World Athletics in 2023.
Reportedly, Dominica stands among the nations that were selected to receive this transformative investment. This plan of government perfectly supports the objective of Dominica to make modern national sports complex.
Considering this, DAA invites glove partnership as they aim to advance the vision for a world-class track and field facility. Major leaders who are behind this dream project and made this possible are Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit; Ministry of Sports; Minister Oscar George, Reggie Severin, Billy Doctrove; and all government departments and technical teams who worked tirelessly to make this possible.
Government of Dominica, World Athletics and the Qatar Olympic Committee has played a significant role as they moved confidently towards the realisation of this landmark project.
11 Tracks in 11 Countries
The project is a partnership between Qatar and World Athletics that includes construction of 11 running tracks in 11 countries around the world.
Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) has partnered with World Athletics and the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) for launching ‘Aim Beyond’. The project aims to empower youth and underserved communities through the transformative power of sports.
Notably, 11 state-of-the-art, eco-friendly and inclusive running tracks will be constructed across 11 countries around the world, which are:
- Dominica
- Anguilla
- Burundi
- Cook Islands
- Kyrgyzstan
- Moldova
- Palestine
- Panama
- Tajikistan
- Tanzania, and
- Ukraine
The ‘Aim Beyond’ project is a reflection of Qatar’s deep belief in the power of sport to promote sustainable development, peace and social cohesion. It also underscores the determination of the country to transform sporting legacy into a tangible tool for positive change in the lives of youth and communities.
Unique Features of ‘Aim Beyond’ Project
The new tracks to be constructed are distinguished by their unique features they possess, such as their inclusivity, use of eco-friendly materials, sustainability and accommodating the needs of athletes with disabilities.
The tracks will also serve as community hubs that promote the values of sporting excellence and strengthening the sense of belonging of young athletes to the communities.
Qatar and World Athletics Partnership
The signing ceremony of the project during the Doha Forum is a premier global platform for dialogue and diplomacy, that highlights how sport can drive sustainable development, peace and human development. The forum has brought together the global leaders, policymakers and innovators to discuss the critical challenges and shape action-driven solutions.
CEO of World Athletics – Jon Ridgeon attended the signing ceremony for the project held in Doha on Monday, Dec 08, 2025 and said that in many communities around the world, athletic talent is abundant, but the facilities are not, and the ‘Aim Beyond’ project will work to improve this.
These partnerships drive the mission to make athletics accessible and inspiring for all, and the collaboration between Qatar and World Athletics is the strategic and human-centred teamwork that sport needs.
According to Ridgeon, they are strengthening the infrastructure for the Member Federations and has opened the doors for many young athletes who have never been able to walk through and ensured that the legacy of the Doha 2019 World Athletics Championships continues to reach well beyond Qatar.
