St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew extended Christmas greetings to the citizens and expressed hope for coming new year. He said that this is a time of reflection, renewal and reverence.
Dr. Drew marked this occasion as a part of life when hearts are softened, homes are filled with light and thoughts turn toward what really matters. He said that Christmas is a time when they celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, born not in a palace but in a manger.
Birth of Jesus reminds all that greatness is often wrapped in simplicity and that true leadership is rooted in service, compassion and love. Christ has set the ultimate example of sacrifice for others, example of hope rising from hardship and of faith that transforms lives.
While extending the greetings, PM Drew recited the chapter-2 verse-14 from the scriptures that, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.”
Drew added that these words remain as relevant today as they were on that holy night in Bethlehem. He stated that these words invite them to lift their eyes beyond the differences, beyond the fears and beyond the personal struggles and to recommit themselves to peace, goodwill and to deafness.
According to Drew, at this festive time of the year, they are reminded that people must always be at the centre of the decisions, priorities and actions. This principle guides their work as a federation. Their agenda is clear and is firmly rooted:
- Investing in People
- Empowering Families
- Supporting Workers
- Nurturing Children
- Caring for the most Vulnerable among them
Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis expressed, they believe that a nation prospers through economic growth and through the dignity, well-being and opportunity afforded to every citizen.
Throughout this year, they have worked to strengthen health care, expand education and training, support small businesses and create pathways for young people to thrive. These efforts are not abstract policies. They are expressions of a people-centered vision, especially the one that recognise that progress is most meaningful when it touches lives, restores hope and builds resilience at the community level.
He further stated that the Christmas challenges them to live these values through the actions taken by the government and through the personal commitments. It attracts them towards kindness in a world that is often marked by harshness, for peace in moments of tension, for generosity in times when it may be easier to withhold than to give.
The Christmas spirit is not confined to the celebration of a single day, but it is a way of being, a way of seeing others and a way of responding to need with compassion. PM Drew encouraged each of them to reach out to someone who may feel alone this season. He urged to offer a word of encouragement to forgive where there has been hurt, to share where there is abundance.
Also, these acts multiplied across the communities and can bring healing and renewal far beyond what they imagine. He conveyed a message that emphasised collective acts of kindness and can bring healing and renewal across the communities. He expressed gratitude to elders for their wisdom, parents and caregivers for their sacrifices. He appreciated youngsters as they are the hope and future of the nation. He also recognised the citizens in the diaspora as an integral part of the national family.
He ensured the people of St. Kitts and Nevis that as the Prime Minister he is deeply conscious of the responsibility entrusted to him. It is a responsibility that he seeks to carry with humility, guided by faith, service and an unwavering belief in the potential of the people. Together they are building a society grounded in justice, opportunity ad care for one another.
