Cape Town: The Water and Sanitation Directorate of the City of Cape Town will be working in the identified areas, which will result in water supply disruptions. This critical maintenance work is done on the water supply infrastructure to benefit the customers.
Residents in the affected areas are encouraged to take note of the work that will take place and prepare accordingly. Its, maintenance work includes pipe and valve installations, repairs and replacements.
Also, the residents are advised to store enough water in advance as a precautionary measure. Water should be stored in clean and sealed containers. This precaution does not guarantee all residents will have a water disruption, but it aims to ensure that they can prepare, if any problem does occur.
According to the plan, maintenance work will result in a water supply disruption to the areas:
Fish Hoek
The water supply will be temporarily unavailable to the area along Ranger and Harrington Roads and possible surroundings in Fish Hoek from 09:00 a.m. until 09:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
This will enable the safe connection of the newly installed pipeline to the existing water supply infrastructure at the intersection of Harrington Street and Ranger Road. These roads and possible surroundings will experience no water during this period.
Mitchells Plain
The water supply will be temporarily shut off to Mitchells Plain from 08:30 a.m. until 07:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. This will enable the maintenance team to safely do important alterations to the 840mm diameter bulk distribution pipeline serving the area.
Alternate water supply will be re-routed to the area, but at lower pressure than the usual. Residents and businesses are kindly requested to store enough water in advance in clean sealed containers for domestic use during this period. Water tankers will be on standby for areas experiencing no water.
Sun Valley
The water supply will be temporarily shut off to the area bounded by Corsair Way, Coracle Street and Brigantine Avenue in Sun Valley from 09:00 a.m. to 09:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
This will enable the safe completion of connections to the existing water supply infrastructure at the intersection of Coracle Street and Caravel Street. These roads and possibly surroundings will experience no water during this period.
Rondebosch
The water supply will be temporarily unavailable to Avenue de Mist (between Garfield Road and Laurier Road), Kromboom Road (between Milner Road and Kromboom Park Way) and Stuart Road (between Kromboom Road and Avenue de Mist), as well as possibly the immediate surrounding areas in Rondebosch, from 09:00 a.m. until 06:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
This will enable the maintenance team to safely replace T-pieces on the local water supply network at the corners of Stuart Road and Kromboom Road, and Avenue de Mist Road and Stuart Road.
Notably, this work forms part of the Water and Sanitation Directorate’s proactive infrastructure maintenance and upgrade programme. It ensures the future continuity of water supply by addressing the issue of unaccounted-for water.
