Cape Town: Retreat swimming pool repairs in city are under way. It is to inform all the residents that the indoor facility has been closed from March 02, 2026 for approximately one month to facilitate repair works. It will include refurbishment of roof sheets and window frames before winter arrives.
Reportedly, the Retreat Indoor Pool is one of four indoor pools that is operating throughout the year. It has been temporarily closed since Monday, March 02, 2026, to allow for essential repair and restoration works.
Therefore, the closure is required to address roof damage and to replace high-level fixed panel windows that is impacted by storm damage during the previous winter season.
The scope of these repairment works includes:
- Removal and replacement of damaged roof sheeting
- Removal and replacement of side wall flashings
- Replacement of downpipes and gutters
- Removal and installation of new fixed panel high-level windows
- Full waterproofing of the roof
Considering this, Member of the Mayoral Committee for Community Services and Health – Councillor Francine Higham said that these repairs have been prioritised to ensure that the facility is fully prepared for the upcoming winter period.
According to Cllr Higham, the projected duration of the works is approximately one month. She further stated that the closure notices have been placed at key points throughout the facility, and the community has been also formally notified.
Being courteous, their team thanked patrons for their understanding. And the City of Cape Town will be providing regular updates as the project work progresses.
