David Miller and Captain Temba Bavuma’s centuries in the 2nd ODI match of Australia Tour of South Africa made the Proteas team lead in the ODI series. The South Africa team won the 2nd ODI match by 32 runs on Sunday September 27, 2026 at the Wanderer Stadium, Johannesburg, South Africa.
The South Africa men’s Cricket team scored 365 runs in 50 overs with loss of 8 wickets after the Australia team won the toss and decided to bowl first. Aiden Markram and Quinton De Kock opened the innings for the South Africa team. But the team lost their first wicket of Markram in the first over of the match which affected the start of the South Africa Team.
After the loss of two wickets in the early overs of the match Captain Temba Bavuma held the pace of the team and hit the century in 166 balls in which he hit ten boundaries and two maximums. Bavuma and David Miller also shared the partnership of 156 runs. Moreover Miller also scored the highest run in the match. He scored his century in 73 balls and scored total 142 runs in 93 balls in which he hit twelve boundaries and 9 maximums.
Miller also secured the title of the player of the match. Other players who contributed to the final score of the South Africa includes, Matthew Breetzke who scored 34 runs in 28 balls, Duan Jansen who made 27 runs in 18 balls, Tristan Stubbs scored 6 runs in 8 balls, Marco Jansen 19 runs in 15 balls, Bjorn Fortuin 5 runs in 5 balls, Keshav Maharaj 4 runs in 2 balls and Lizaad Williams 1 run 1 ball.
After the South Africa innings, Captain Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head opened the innings for the Australia team, both the players gave a very good start to the team. Marsh scored 84 runs in 53 balls and Travis scored 84 in 76 balls. But after the first dismissal of Marsh’s wicket in the 17th over, Australia team struggled to maintain the required run rate for the rest of the innings. South Africa bowled out the Australia team in the 49 over of the match with a score of 333 runs.
Additionally, the highest number of Australia wickets were dismissed by Lizaad Williams along with Marco Janson, Keshav Maharaj and Bjorn Fortuin also claimed 2 wickets each. Aiden Markram also dismissed 1 wicket in the Match.
