Kenya: Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports Ababu Namwamba held the monthly CEO’s roundtable. The meeting was hosted on Tuesday with the Permanent Secretary of Sports, Eng. Peter Tum in attendance.
The aim of the meeting was to review and take stock of the various stages of implementation of ministry’s key performance targets. The meeting was attended by a number of Chief executives with a stake in the ministry.
The Ministry shared the glimpses from the meeting which takes place every month. The meeting reasserts the ministry’s commitment and involvement in the betterment of the Sports, Creative Economy and young population of Kenya.
The Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports called on the executives to build synergy to actualize the Government’s agenda. Additionally, he challenged the CEOs to focus on defining and aligning the key legacy initiatives in the calendar year with the Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
Ababu Namwamba called on them to further strengthen collaboration with external partners by leveraging the Ministry’s pull in sports and the creatives to support development programs across the SAGAs.
“We are a mixed grill and an attractive menu for partnership. Let us look outwards in resource mobilization by curating attractive packages for our external partners to explore ways of plugging in to support our programs,” he remarked.
Supporting the Cabinet Secretary’s sentiments, Permanent Secretary Tum rallied the team to lead a cohesive and aggressive charge towards actualizing the ministry’s objectives and commitment to the public, noting that the BETA agenda aligned projects, were a priority that the ministry was keen on meeting.
Among the key areas being pursued by the ministry include programs geared at spurring youth enterprises development, upscaling of innovation in the country as well as the lining up of several film projects that guarantee maximum engagement of Kenyan youth and the elevation of the creative’s ecosystem
