Zambia: The round of Sixteen for the ABSA Cup Tournament will start on Friday. The teams who are competing in the football tournament have expressed their excitement for the event.
The teams will be playing the round of 16 to qualify to the quarter finals of the ABSA Cup. The Ministry of Sports e t al in the government of Zambia have previously shared that the ABSA Cup 2024 has received a major upgrade in terms of prize money.
The increase in prize money has in turn helped the tournament gain much more traction and attention from sports lovers across the country. The ABSA Cup is an annual event which bring sports lovers from across Zambia together.
The excitement for the sports will kick off with Nkwazi facing Indeni Football Club at the Nkana stadium. Meanwhile, Power Dynamos will clash with the Mwaimwena strikers.
On Saturday, Red Arrows will face Malalo Police, as Nchanga Rangers battle River Plate at Arthur Davies Stadium. Further, on Sunday Muza Football Club will lock horns with Chirundu United.
Finally, the Green Eagles will be facing their opponents in the form of Athletico Lusaka at Nkoloma Stadium.
Soccer analyst Puncherello Chama spoke to the media about the sports event, discussing the upcoming games. The soccer analyst claimed that it is very difficult to predict the teams that will make it to the quarter final.
Chama has however, noted that a lot of the Zambian Super League teams have got much easier games which increases their chances of qualifying.
“Almost all the other games from the super League will pull through except maybe Nkwazi vs. Indeni as Nkwazi is currently not doing well with the coaching changes this season and Indeni may have the aid to win.” Chama said.
Chama shared that the Green Eagle’s game against Athletico Lusaka will be a bit tricky as the team recently changed their coach while their opponent has been consistent this season.
Chama said the ZESCO United versus Barotse Crocs game is also an interesting match to look out for as ZESCO’S level of experience and exposure is on another level compared to Barotse.
