Nigeria: Adamawa or Taraba Customs Thwarts Smuggling PMS Amidst Violent Attack on Personnel. The incident was followed by the unwavering efforts of Nigeria Customs Service Officers to effectively manage the nation’s border and suppress smuggling activities.
The Adamawa or Taraba Command Officers chased down the smugglers on the Mubi-Sahuda road to prevent smuggling at the territorial borders on Sunday, March 17, 2024.
According to the statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Naomi Titus, during the operation, three tricycles loaded with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) were suspected of being smuggled out of the country into the Republic of Cameroon and were intercepted.
According to the narration by Titus, the officers have encountered fierce resistance from the smugglers who have launched a violent attack. They have tried to set both the officers and their official vehicles on fire.
Fortunately, after a call for reinforcement, the Nigerian Army intervened by averting a potential disaster.
PRO Titus has stated that, however, one officer sustained severe injuries and the windshield of an operational vehicle, which was shattered during the attack.
According to the issued statement, despite of the resistance, the team has managed to secure, evacuate and seize 45 X 25 L jerry cans of PMS.
She stated that, these are all part of the Nigeria Customs Service’s that are committed efforts to safeguard the nation’s borders and curb illegal smuggling activities.

A person named Okogi Lilian has expressed that something needs to be done about the attack on our security and law enforcement personnel.
Another person known as Douglas Rich Dgreat Ekanem said, “I commend your resilience in foiling the smuggling attempt. The agency should think of how to reward the dint of hard work and professionalism.”
A social media user named as Gamboa Adamu commented, “It’s hilarious attitude fully knowing Nigeria customs service are going their very best to improve hardships and make things easier for the masses and the country at large but the fell to relars is only God will intervene I wish quick recovery.”
