South Africa: The community of Emadlangeni Municipality will celebrate Christmas in high spirits after an intervention to solve the water crisis that has been a bane for years was rolled out.
This comes after Amajuba District’s mayor Cllr. uMtwana Ndabuko Zulu held an urgent meeting with the water war room this morning, 23 December 2022, in Emadlangeni local municipality.
The main objective for the prompt meeting was to present water intervention/solutions to the leadership of Emadlageni local Municipality.
In his welcome address Cllr M.L Buthelezi, Mayor of Emadlangeni, welcomed the district mayor, councillors and officials present and further presented the current status of water in Emadlangeni local municipality, including the huge challenges such as load shedding that have played a major impact in causing water interruptions.
uMtwana Cllr. Zulu is building from the water war room that was recently held on 19 December 2022, where relevant stakeholders took a resolution and deemed these interventions as a sacrosanct and necessary tool to assist the community.
The following interventions will be implemented in Emadlangeni local municipality:
-4 water tankers
-1 honey sucker
-The Repair and maintenance of 10 boreholes
-The provision of 3 generators to assist
the power for the 10 boreholes
-1 generator will provide power to the Reservoir during load shedding.
-1 for the pump station
Cllr Zulu also placed emphasis and appealed to staff tasked with providing water to communities to go beyond the call of duty in sorting out the water issues.
In closure, Cllr Buthelezi welcomed the intervention with great enthusiasm and further eluded that he looks forward to a progressive relationship with the Mayor of Amajuba, Cllr Zulu.
The meeting continued as Cllrs and officials further engaged on further interventions that need to be investigated and implemented.
