Africa Parks has donated US$ 40,000 worth of assorted textbooks to targeted schools in the Kalabo district area

Zambia: Africa Parks has donated US$ 40,000 worth of assorted textbooks to targeted schools in the area. The donation was made with the aim of supporting the educational development in the schools of  the region.

Africa Parks a wildlife conservation and non-profit organisation managing Liuwa Plain National Park in Kalabo district. The organization has been dedicated to protecting the natural heritage of the country.

The work that Africa Parks has done for the benefit of the organization helped significantly in the prevention of wildlife and forest cover. The officials have shared that the donation of school books is a part of the nation’s commitment to community service.

Kalabo District Commissioner, Musangu Njamba presided over the handover of the assorted textbook. He noted that the consignment of 12,500 textbooks provided by African Parks. The donation reflects the success of community involvement in conserving and protecting Liuwa’s natural resources.

The District Commissioner Njamba expressed his delight at non-governmental institutions making efforts to complement government efforts in raising education standards across the country. The schools and students have expressed their appreciation for the organization who have made this donation.

Liuwa Park Manager, Deon Joubert also delivered a brief address at the donation handover ceremony. He said the textbook support was made possible through collaboration with the Game Changer Project.

Further, Joubert reaffirmed his organization’s ongoing commitment to supporting local communities in need. Meanwhile, Kalabo District Education Board Secretary, Gift Sibanze said that the textbook support was targeting seven schools in Liuwa.

Delivering a vote of thanks, Sibanze said that the textbooks would go a long way in improving academic results. The donation of books will also help in ensuring a much better pupil-book ratio in the targeted schools.

Speaking in an interview, Mishulundu primary school headteacher, Kahilu Sandala said that his school which has over 500 pupils and an additional grade nine external centre was highly delighted to benefit from the  support of the organization in the form of these textbooks.
