Cape Town observed the Africa Tech Week on June 03 and 04, 2025 at the Century City Conference Centre; where business professionals and tech enthusiasts participated.
Africa Tech Week 2025 provided first-hand opportunity to learn and leverage technological change in order to gain a competitive edge. It has made people and their business relevant in an age of exponential disruption.

The two-day event delivered an unmissable line-up of Top Local and International Speakers, who represented some of the world’s most influential companies such as Microsoft, Google and TikTok to name a few.
Africa Tech Week 2025 began on a wet and gloomy Tuesday in Cape Town, that saw a packed venue in the morning. The host city also invited MMC for Economic Growth and Tourism – Alderman James Vos, who swept his views to smart investments.
Cape Town is not just a city, it’s a launchpad for Africa’s digital future. At the event, James Vos kicked the Sentech Africa Tech Week 2025, where he delivered the officials Host City Address, that put light on how City of Cape Town is boosting tourism, trade, tech and talent.

James Vos presented his bold vision for Cape Town’s innovation economy, along with insights on economic growth, global trade and job creation. He gave real world examples of cutting red tape and unlocking opportunities.
Vos leads the Economic Growth Directorate of Cape Town, he also drives key projects such as the ease of doing business index and jobs connect. Being the speaker at the event, he embarked on a mission to position the city as Africa’s top tech and tourism hub.
Considering his visit, James Vos expressed that he is delighted to deliver the welcoming address at the Sentech Africa Tech Week Conference 2025, that kicked off on June 03, 2025. It was a prestigious event that took place at the Century City Conference Centre.

And what could be a better city than Cape town to host this event, as it is South Africa’s leading tech ecosystem, home to 51% of the country’s startups. Cape Town has also earned global recognition and was ranked among the top-100 emerging ecosystems in the Startup Genome Global Startup Ecosystem Report 2024.
He added that the vibrant startup landscape is supported by approximately 20 to 30 active incubators, accelerators, and entrepreneurial support organizations, that helped them to drive innovation and scale businesses across all stages of growth.
