Mauritius: The Attorney General, Minister of Agro-Industry and Food Security, Maneesh Gobin, received this morning the High Commissioner of South Africa to Mauritius, Dr Hlamalani Nelly Manzini, at the seat of his Ministry in Port Louis.
In a statement following the meeting, the South African High Commissioner indicated that she had a very fruitful discussion with the Minister as regards agro-processing.
“Our main point of discussion was about the strengthening of our bilateral relationships, more particularly, about the Memorandum of Understanding that we need to sign in order to implement a framework to strengthen this relationship,” she observed.
Moreover, Dr Manzini shared that discussions also pertained to the fact that the South African Government has a good understanding of the needs of Mauritius in terms of the agro-processing sector. “A good example would be the dairy farming sector that can be established by South Africans in Mauritius,” she noted.
On that score, she underlined that both Governments will work together so that the existing framework between South Africa and Mauritius could be updated to include relevant procedures in order to implement new measures through institutions such as the Economic Development Board.
