Botswana: The President of Botswana, Dr Mokgweetsi Eric preside over the launch event for the newest aircraft of Air Botswana. The newest aircraft in the fleet of Air Botswana, Embraer E175 is named ”Kalahari”.

The experts of the Air Botswana believe that this modern fuel-efficient regional jet marks a significant enhancement to the airline’s fleet. The officials have shared that the introduction of the Kalahari to the fleet aims to bolster connectivity and service.

The representatives of Air Botswana have shared that they are working on stabilizing the airlines. They want to regain their own customers and build credibility. They want to make sure that they deliver on their promise of on time performance and safety.

The event to commemorate the launch of the event was attended by President Masisi and other government officials. The attendants of the launch event claimed that the ambiance was  breathtaking to mark the new beginning.

The government of Botswana has given Air Botswana the budget to procure four aircrafts for the airlines. The budget amounts to 550 Million Dollars to procure the aircrafts.

The airline has procured 3 of the four aircrafts and the final one is yet to be ordered. Further, one of the three ordered aircrafts has been launched in the August 30 ceremony, The other two are getting ready to be operationalized.

The representatives of Air Botswana have shared that the aircrafts still need to be branded with the logos and paint work to make them recognizable as the part of the Fleet of the airlines. The CEO of the Air Botswana Leungo Rasebotsa said that they want to dominate the skies with the new look.

The CEO also highlighted the airline’s dedication to expanding its operations and contributing to regional development. She reflected on how the addition of the Embraer E175 ”Kalahari” impact Air Botswana’s regional connectivity.

At the time, she was accompanied by the Acting Board Chairperson of Air Botswana Keamogetse Mpudi. The Acting Board Chairperson also addressed the allegations circulating around the media regarding technical issues in the Embraer E175.

Media reports have suggested that the aircraft has been grounded in light of technical issues. However, the Acting Board Chairperson denied these reports, calling them false.

She highlighted that they want to make sure that thee pilots and cabin crew have had the chance to familiarize themselves with the aircraft before it is taken to the skies.
