Botswana: The tourism authority of Botswana is celebrating the arrival of the inaugural flight from Ethiopian Airlines to Maun. The flight will mark its inaugural landing at the Maun international airport  on Monday, June 10.

The flight has currently departed from the point of origination at Bole Addis Ababa International Airport in Ethiopia. The departure of the flight was witnessed by several officials from Botswana’s tourism and aviation offices.

On the other hand, representatives from the Ethopia Airlines were also present at the Bole Addis Ababa International Airport at the time of the departure. Both the tourism stakeholders from Ethiopia and Botswana were delighted by the new development.

The attendants of the departure ceremony for the flight included the following officials from both ends:

  • Ambassador of Botswana to Ethiopia, Tebelelo Alfred Boang,
  • Chief Executive Officer for Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana Dr. Bao Mosinyi,
  • Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana Director for Flight Safety Christopher Ferguson,
  • Marketing Manager for Botswana Tourism,
  • Officials and representatives from the Ethiopian Airlines
  • CEO Mesfin Tassew and other invited guests

The addition of this new flight from the Ethiopian Airlines will help in strengthening the airlift capacity of the nation. They announced that the newly inaugurated flight will connect Ethiopia and Botswana three days a week.

The flights will operate to and from Botswana on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The officials of the Ethiopian Airlines claimed that it would boost inter continental connectivity. For the people of Botswana, the addition of the flights will boost their air travel capability.

The officials agreed that the development is a significant milestone in the recovery of our aviation industry. The development and recovery efforts were extremely crucial after the near-crippling effects of COVID-19.

The flight is expected to touch down at the Maun International airport in less than 6 hours. The officials from the Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana – CAAB and Botswana Tourism will be present at Maun to welcome the inaugural flight.

The arrival of the flight will help in the development and strengthening of the relations’ relationship. The two nations want to boost the connectivity and provide a more seamless experience for the travels.
