Cameroon: Rapper Mic Monsta has slammed the award shows for snubbing and disrespecting Mboko Genre.
Recently, the rapper Mic Monsta have visited a school award show in Cameroon where he faced the similar thing and raised his voice for this.
The rapper wanted award shows to be smart enough to study their ecosystem and celebrate newcomers emerging in Cameroon’s upcoming rap genre, Mboko.
Mic Monsta has expressed his disappointment with the fact that they love to copy from outside and forget to celebrate their genre.
Mboko is particularly a musical genre that consists of Cameroon’s Bend Skin, Bikutsi, Makossa, Essewe and Bottle Dance. The genre also includes Congolese Soukous and other influences across Africa and electronic.
Hip-hop, industrial and other Western influences that create sound are referred to as Mboko.
Molua Alous Mosima is a Cameroonian artist known by the stage name Mic Monsta. He is a Cameroon Hip-Hop Recording Artist who was born and brought up in KTown, Cameroon.
The afro musician has started rapping at the age of 16 back in 2008. By the year 2010, he started recording his own music while he was still in high school.
His first song recorded on the tape was ‘I No get Chorus’ which went viral around K Town and also covered the region of Cameroon earning the young rapper. Some radio played the song on local radio stations.
Moreover, the mixtape with covers of songs from his music mentors has followed the concept.
A refix and remix version of ‘Bwam’, which was a song by Jovi caused some controversy later. The controversy was settled when the established Jovi offered the younger artist a guest spot on a different song.
Monsta named rappers Kendrick Lamar, M.I., Lil Wayne and Ice Prince as it influences. The first official single track of the rapper was ‘Fear’ which was released back in 2016.
