Zambia: Zambia U17 Men’s National Team coach Ian Bakala has summoned 48 players for a 10-day assessment camp that will run from March 5 to 15 in Lusaka.
The camp will kickstart preparations for TotalEnergies U-17 Africa Cup of Nations Algeria 2023, where Zambia are in Group B alongside Nigeria, Morocco and neighbours South Africa. The U17 AFCON will run from April 29 to May 19, and the four semi-finalists of the tournament will qualify for the FIFA World Cup to be played later this year.
18 out of the 48 players were part of the team that emerged victorious at the 2022 COSAFA U17 Championship in Malawi and have been joined by Chipolopolo striker Collins Mbesuma’s son Lineker, SuperSport midfielder Milimo Nalumango and France-based striker Mutale Mutale among other new call-ups.
