Botswana: The Botswana Housing Corporation (BHC) has handed over 2 housing units to Kgalagadi Land Board on Tuesday during a small handover ceremony. The handover ceremony was attended by a number of officials from the office of the Housing Corporation and the receptors.

The Acting Deputy Chief Executive Officer Batanani Nkhumisang delivered a brief address at the event. He talked about the significance of the handover ceremony. He highlighted that the 2 units are part of the 13 housing units developed in Tsabong.

The aim of the initiative is specifically to alleviate the area’s accommodation shortage.

The project is a part of the corporation’s  direct input towards Government driven Citizen Economic Empowerment initiative. Accordingly, the members of the organization distributed the project into 3 contracts. These contracts were further given to three (3) local contractors.

He further highlighted that the handover of the units is a significant step towards enhancing the lives and working environment of the people. The housing units will be given to the individuals who play a critical role in the development of our rural communities.

Nkhumisang assured the gathering that the housing units which they have handed over will help give the Land Board officers a safe and comfortable living space. He added that they are also working on constructing 10 housing units which are near completion.

He also informed the assembled guests that the construction of an additional 23 housing units has also started in the same area. The members of the community have shared that the leadership of the country is dedicated to provide ample housing to the people.

Acting Deputy CEO Batanani Nkhumisang thanked Kgalagadi Land Board for allocating land to the Corporation. He noted that the land will not only benefit BHC as a prime development site, it will also go a long way to contribute to the development of the Village.

On the other hand, Kgalagadi Land Board chairman Reverend Sylvester Tselaesele appreciated the great job that BHC is doing for the Country. He highlighted that he said BHC has uplifted the living standard of some villages.

Furthermore, he highlighted that the rate at which BHC is developing in Tsabong, as the Land Board Chairman, he was going to call the Estate a name that will denote something about the services of the Corporation in the village.

Reverend Tselaesele was delighted to announce that two employees from the Kgalagadi Land Board will have a decent accommodation.

Finally, On behalf of the organization, Reverend said that they were lucky to have received these housing units. He highlighted that they are facing a serious shortage of accommodation, and the 2 units will make a huge difference.
