Cape Town has remained in light for these past months for grabbing various accolades. Cape Town International Airport and the City of Cape Town has came together to mark two incredible achievements.
The CTIA airport is ranked as No.1 Airport in the World in AirHelp Score 2025. The celebration doesn’t end here, with this, Cape Town city has been named the best City in the World by the Telegraph, recently.
City officials celebrated these achievements which was held at CTIA. The representatives were brought together from the City of Cape Town, the Western Cape Provincial Government, tourism leaders and ACSA to honour these remarkable accolades that shine as a global spotlight on the city and its gateway to the world.
Alderman James Vos, Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis and the Pemier Alan Winde joined the very own Thabo Phateng. As together, they aim to continue to make Cape Town a world-class destination for all.
Considering this achievement, Cape Town International Airport (CTIA) officially shared glimpses from the celebration and said that their early morning started with celebration, acknowledging yet another incredible international recognition: ‘Best Airport in the World’ in the AirHelp Score 2025.
This comes on the back of also being named as ‘Best Airport in Africa’, and receiving praise for staff service and cleanliness at the Skytrax 2025 Awards.
The CTIA team was joined by Premier Alan Winde of the Western Cape Government; Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis; and various other stakeholders in the Tourism Industry and of course, the hosts for today. This makes it an outstanding leadership team of Cape Town International Airport.
According to Love Cape Town’s latest Economic Value of Tourism Report, the industry’s impact is remarkable:
- In 2024, more than 2.4 million overnight visitors came to the city.
- They spent R24.5 billion directly in the economy.
- This spending supported over 106,000 jobs – nearly 7% of all employment in Cape Town.
- And here’s the standout figure: for every 10 tourists who arrive, one job is created or sustained.
