The incident occurred when the victim who is identified as Takunda Tenisi aged 25 has refused to show his medical cards to the guards.

Zimbabwe: Security Guards of Bindura Hospital have faced charges by the court for assaulting the staff members in relation to the misunderstanding of medication.

As per the sources, three security guards at Bindura Hospital have appeared in the city court due to assault charges after allegedly attacking the staff members whom they have suspected of stealing pills.

According to the reports, the incident occurred when the victim, Takunda Tenisi, aged 25, refused to show his medical cards to the guards.

Following the case further, later on, it was revealed that Tenisi had sought medical attention at the Bindura Hospital and was prescribed the medication legitimately, which he bought from the hospital pharmacy.

Reportedly, the court heard that the security guard at the pharmacy had recorded Tenisi’s medication before he was stopped at the hospital gate.

As per the allegations, victim Tenisi was stopped at the hospital gate on March 06, 2024, around 4:00 p.m. by a man who is identified as Dennis Saurosi aged 47.

Dennis Saurosi went to search for his bag, inside which forty-two ammoxyline and metronidazole pills were discovered.

After this, Saurosi demanded to see Tenisi’s medical card, but later, he refused and cited a case concerning violating his privacy.

However, Tenisi advised Saurosi to verify the medication with his colleague at the pharmacy, who had recorded it in the record book earlier.

Accused Saurosi then brought out three batons from the guard room along with Jackson and Maja and started assaulting Tenisi all over his body.

While watching this, some passers-by came to the rescue of Tenisi, who had sustained a swollen left hand and painful ribs.

Following this an insider said that the hospital staff demonstrated citing to the brutal attack on the staff member. The grievances involved the misuse of hospital vehicles by the administration and lack of running water at the hospital.

Considerably, the human resources representative put the demonstration on hold pending a meeting with the medical superintendent today.

Whereas, the medical authorities refuted the demonstration as mere rumours. As the events were captured on camera. The accused, Dennis Saurosi, aged 47, Michael Jackson, aged 43, and Charles Maja, aged 23, are facing assault charges by the court.
