Botswana: The Ministry of Education and Skills Development in Botswana is inviting applications for the 24th JQA International Environmental Children’s Drawing Contest. The contest has been an important part of the yearly calendar of the children for over two decades.
The annual event was hosted for the first time in the year 1999 and has been a tradition for the country. The contest has been organized to allow children from all around the world to express themselves artistically.
Through the contest, the children are allowed to share their views on environmental issues. 2024 Theme for the Children’s Drawing Contest is: Passing On Our Precious Earth to the Future
Children aged 7-15; from around the world can participate in the contest. Interested children must register themselves for the contest before the deadline of 31 May 2024.
The theme of the 2024 edition of the contest is designed to help the participating students in making creative and thought-provoking artworks.
The organizers of the international contest have provided the following prompt for the participants.
“What do humans, animals, plants, and all of our companions living on Earth need to continue living healthily and happily? Clean water and air, rich soil, sunlight, moonlight… Earth is abundant with wonderful environments that protect and nurture life.”
The participants were further asked to draw scenes of our precious Earth that you would like to pass on to the future. The organizers have further shared that the participants must adhere to the following guidelines:
Application Requirements: Paper size 257×364mm or smaller.
Drawing Tools: Free-hand drawing with any type of paint, pastel, etc.
Important Notes:
(a) Please enter the necessary information in the Application Form on the back of this brochure and glue it to the back of the drawing.
(b) Please be sure that the drawing has been drawn personally and has not been published in other newspapers or magazines.
(c) The drawing will not be returned.
(d) The proprietary rights and copyright of the drawing will be transferred to JQA and the drawing may be used in publications or on the web for publicity and promotional purposes.
(e) Applications sent in groups, such as a school, should be sent in a single packet.
(f) Digital works, and drawings with text, such as posters, are not eligible for the contest.
