Botswana: Today, the government of Botswana marks the commemoration of the 2023 World Oral Health Day. First Launched in 2013, World Oral Health Day aims to raise awareness about oral health issues and how oral health diseases can affect the general well-being of people. It also provides an opportunity for people to look back and reflect on whether they have been taking care of their oral health or not.

The 2023 World Oral Health Day is commemorated under the theme Be Proud of Your Mouth. This is the third and final year in which the World Oral Health Day is held under this theme, the first having been in 2021. The theme underscores the importance of having healthy teeth, gums and everything in or around the mouth. It is only when one has a healthy mouth that one can have a good smile. This day, therefore, is meant to call for action about one’s oral health.

Moreover, the government of Botswana also held monthly checkups for the welfare of the residents and society. The residents of the country showed their happiness through their comments in which they wrote that the Botswana government Service level is good because they allowed every individual to go for a checkup after every six months.
