Botswana: The Ministry of Defence and Security held a ceremony for the rollout of the Ministry Mindset Change Roadmap under the theme ‘Holistic Mindset Change, My Responsibility! – A re Chencheng, Maikarabelo kea me!’.
The 10th of November 2023 was the day the Team MDS embarked on a journey to bring change, not only to the Ministry but to stakeholders and the citizens.
The Minister, Thomas Kagiso Mmusi, is the champion of the Mindset Change in the Ministry and had accorded the Staff members to come up with a Mindset Change Strategy that was inaugurated on the 10th of November 2023. The Mindset Change Roadmap Strategy will be rolled from October 2023 to March 2026.
This Roadmap will guide the implementation of Mindset change in the Ministry and also propel the realisation of Mindset Change priority.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Pearl N. Ramokoka, said, “I would like to focus on the forty (40) member Mindset Change Campaign Team (T40), our change champions…”. Ramokoka emphasised that T40 was chosen to lead Mindset Change in the Ministry as change agents, mainly due to their capability and mutual passion for creating a safe and secure environment, conducive for the ‘achievement of prosperity for all’.
“Your passion for change, your diverse backgrounds and your enthusiasm will help us all to unite as the Ministry and work together to achieve our individual as well as Team goals. We are grateful to have you as our change agents and at your disposal for support. Your work is cut out for you”, assured the Permanent Secretary.
The Mindset Change Strategy has a two-phased approach, for the period of 2023-2026; phase 1 would focus on awareness, stakeholder engagement, and development of the National Value System. Phase 2 would be the rollout and education of the National Value System, including socialisation, embedding a High-Performance Culture, and building the capacity to change.
The overall objective is achieving service excellence as the country endeavours to move from upper-middle-income to high-income economy status by 2036.
