Botswana (Kaudwane): Botswana Minister of Defence and Security Kagiso Mmusi inaugurated the Kaudwane Police Post.
The doors of the Kaudwane Police Post opened to the public on Friday during a ceremony, underscoring the dedication of authorities.
The Kaudwane Police Post, now operational, stands as a testament to the commitment of the government to bolster security measures in the region. Minister Mmusi emphasised the importance of community collaboration in fostering a safer environment.
Notably, the event was attended by residents from Kaudwane and surrounding villages. The inauguration ceremony featured speeches by Minister Mmusi, a ceremonial opening, and interactive sessions that allowed residents to engage with law enforcement officials.
During the event, Defence Minister Mmusi gave a speech in which he stated, “The completion of the Police Post is one of the milestones in line with Vision 2036 Pillar 4, which assures Governance, Peace and Security.”
He appealed to residents to join hands with the police in ensuring that peace and security prevail in their community.
The Minister noted that the opening of the Police Post will improve police services and bring them closer to the community. Honourable Mmusi said to enhance public safety and security; the government has enlisted 1000 additional police officers with the approval of the construction of 28 police posts this financial year.
For his part, the Acting Commissioner of Police, Phemelo Ramakorwane, informed that the Kaudwane Police Post was strategically positioned to service villages such as Salajwe and Khudumelapye.
He also said it was imperative for the safety and security of tourists visiting Khutse Game Reserve and protection of fauna and flora.
Ramakorwane revealed that the police post was built at a cost of over P1 million and completed within budget by a citizen youth contractor. For his part, Member of Parliament for Takatokwane, Friction Leuwe, appreciated the development and urged the community to utilise and take care of the police post.
