Botswana DSCSC College holds its 24th graduation ceremony

Botswana: The Defence Staff Course and Staff College (DSCSC) held the 24th graduation ceremony at the Zambia National Service banquet hall Chamba Valley for 79 successful students on Friday, 02 December 2022.

Botswana: The Defence Staff Course and Staff College (DSCSC) held the 24th graduation ceremony at the Zambia National Service banquet hall Chamba Valley for 79 successful students on Friday, 02 December 2022.

The graduates completed an intensive 11-month training course in Defence and Security studies. The rigorous curriculum demanded that they acquire and exhibit knowledge in social, economic and international military affairs critical in today’s geo-strategic environment.

The Guest of Honour, the Zambia Republican President Mr Hakainde Hichilema, was represented by the Minister of Defence, Hon Ambrose Lufuma MP.


 

 


In a speech read on the President’s behalf, Hon Lufuma congratulated the graduates for rising to the challenge and successfully completing the military course. He commended the various Security Wings for their participation and thanked the allied nations, who continued to show trust in the country’s ability to provide military training at a higher level. He gave the example of the current Namibian Air Marshal, Major General Theophilus Shaende who was a graduate of the institution.

In a joint program with the University of Zambia (UNZA), the students completed their defence course alongside a diploma in Defence and Security Studies from UNZA.

The students comprising of 60 local personnel from the Zambia Army, Zambia Air Force, Zambia National Service and Office of the President, as well as a contingent of 19 allied students from Zimbabwe, Malawi, South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana, Namibia, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Rwanda and Kenya proudly marched to receive their diplomas presented by the Honourable Minister of Defence.

Also in attendance at the event was the Lusaka Province Minister, Honorable Sheol Mulyata and the Deputy Zambia Air Force Commander and COAIRS, Maj Gen Oscar Nyoni who was amongst the Deputy Service Chiefs who witnessed the graduation ceremony.
