Modibe went on to encourage artists and stakeholders to change their mindsets with regard to their contributions to the growth of the creative arts sector, stating that the time is now for all players in the industry to start thinking global and not local with regard to content generation and marketing of their musical products.

In addition, he availed that this year’s awards are going to be inclusive of promoters, artists, producers, and record label executives from the region and indeed internationally.

BOMU President Fresh Lesokwane, revealed that BOMU is undergoing a major transformation which aims to grow the Botswana music scene; this is evidenced by the establishment of a new office, which seeks to serve the Union’s constituents.

He further noted that the preparations and perseverance of all stakeholders to transform the Union into an employer of choice and activist for the development of the creative arts sector in Botswana is on track.

For his part General Manager at Botswana Television, which is one of the main sponsors of the highly anticipated event, noted that “it’s all systems go for the 12th instalment of the BOMU awards, and a partnership has been forged with the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation which will serve as a skills sharing and networking platform for creatives and broadcasters.

The Botswana Music Union Awards are slated for the 16th of December 2023 at the Royal Aria Stadium and will be held under the theme “Music Beyond”.
