Botswana: The Ministry of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture participated in a two-day event organized by the Office of the District Commissioner at Ledumang and G-West, respectively.
Held under the theme “Adopting the Winners Mindset”, the event was an initiative to bring services closer to the people and familiarize the community with services provided by different institutions from government ministries, parastatals, private sector and Non-Governmental Organizations.
When welcoming the attendees and exhibitors, His Worship, the Mayor of Gaborone City, Austin Abraham, recognized the dedication and hard work exhibited by institutions in ensuring convenience and accessibility for all citizens.
He highlighted that through tireless efforts, government departments and parastatals have successfully fostered an environment where services are not limited to office spaces but are instead brought directly to the people, which has undoubtedly enhanced the quality of life for residents and strengthened the community’s trust in the government’s ability to meet their needs effectively.
For his part, Deputy Town Clerk Molapisi Morapedi mentioned that the day has been set aside to ensure that services are brought closer to the people and to familiarize themselves with services provided by different institutions within Gaborone District.
Morapedi gave reference to His Excellency the President of the Republic of Botswana, Dr Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi’s National Mindset Change campaign that called for transformative change at personal, institutional and national levels.
“We are all driving forces of this transformational agenda, hence our theme ‘Adopting a Winner’s Mindset’. We must have the right attitude and beliefs about us as Batswana and our abilities, yes we can foster a winning mentality as a district in many ways”, he said.
Ledumang Councilor Honourable Thuso Khubamang closed the events of the day by appreciating joint efforts made by exhibitors in bringing services to the people. He urged the youth to apply for Youth Development Fund (YDF) in order to grow their businesses and help fight unemployment in his ward.
