Gaborone, Botswana: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to announce that His Excellency the President, Dr Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi, has appointed, Juliana Angela Dube-Gobotswang as Botswana’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Sweden.
Ambassador-Designate Dube-Gobotswang has worked in the public and private sectors as a legal practitioner. Most recently, from 2021 to 2023, she served as Botswana’s first female Chief Registrar of the Judiciary. Other portfolios she has held include Registrar of the High Court and Associate Attorney. She has also served in various Tribunals and Commissions, including the Tribunal on Intelligence and Security.
Ambassador-Designate Dube-Gobotswang is a recipient of the 2010 Attorney of the Year and the 2009 Dedicated Service and Skilled Work Ethic awards.
On the international platform, Ambassador-Designate Dube-Gobotswang has served as the Vice-Chairperson of the Southern and East African Judicial Administrators Association (SEAJAA), and represented Botswana as the focal person for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) on Judicial Conduct and Ethics, and the Commonwealth Judicial Education Institute (CJEI).
Botswana and Sweden have a long history of cooperation dating back to the time Botswana attained independence in 1966. Sweden has, over the years, extended to Botswana valuable development assistance, which contributed to the country’s transformation from the least developed country (LDC) status to an upper middle-income status.
As Botswana’s Envoy to Sweden, Ms Dube-Gobotswang will further strengthen the strong bonds of friendship that subsist between the people of Botswana and Sweden.
Ambassador-Designate Dube-Gobotswang is expected to take up her appointment in Sweden in September 2023. She takes over from High Commissioner Ms
Chandapiwa Nteta, who was recently appointed as Botswana’s Envoy to Mozambique.
