Botswana: Botswana Prison Service Health Services Directorate Staff has donated a fully operational tuckshop to Kefilwe Mokenti. The donation was mad.”e at Maun on Friday with several members of the organization in attendance at the event.
The donation was made under the theme: “Creating Effective Frameworks for Sustaining a High-Performance Culture.” The official handover of the donated items was made during a short ceremony at Gxabara Ward.
The Director – Health Services Senior Assistant Commissioner Dr. Lebapotswe Tlale highlighted the importance of the donation. He said that the initiative comes after a week-long workshop where BPS health professionals convened in Maun to discuss and develop the Services Draft Health Policy Framework.
He stated that in line with the commitment to social responsibility, the team engaged in the charitable endeavour anonymously as part of the organisational culture. The officials have shared that the members of the community will benefit tremendously from the donation.
SACP Tlale highlighted that the initiative aligns with President’s Reset Agenda, particularly priority number 5 of Mindset Change. It also aligns with the National Vision 2036 principles (Achieving Prosperity for All), as well as the Commissioner’s Roadmap.
“The success of our organization does not only rest in delivering our mandate but also in the positive impact we create within the community,” he stated.
Kgosi Ntwakgolo Ledimo of Gxabara Ward extended a warm welcome to the officials of the Botswana Police Service. Kgosi expressed gratitude to the Botswana Prison Service for the generous gesture.
He noted that the donation exemplifies the spirit of BOTHO, compassion, and love, which are foundational to the Setswana culture. Kgosi Ledimo encouraged the Officers to extend similar acts of kindness to other less privileged Batswana.
Meanwhile, Mokenti who is also a guardian to a 15 year old disabled child received the donation with great enthusiasm, repeatedly expressing her gratitude to the Prison Service. She vowed to work diligently to sustain her business and safeguard it against any potential challenges.
The event was graced by several prominent officials including Councellor Vepaune Moreti of Gxabara Ward and the Senior Social Welfare Officer (Maun), Ototeng Otelliah Serite.
