The Reaction Unit South Africa apprehended a robbery suspect after the individual in question, along with a partner, robbed a man. The robbery allegedly took place on Wick Street in Verulam CBD on Saturday, September 12, 2026.
One witness who was present at the site of the incident called the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Centre for assistance. The organisation received the said call at approximately 19:31. A team of Reaction Officers was immediately dispatched to the scene to investigate the incident.
When the team arrived, Reaction Officers noticed that a member of the public was trying to subdue the suspect. The robber in question was overpowering the man when First Responders intervened and restrained him.
The officials from the team of Reaction Unit South Africa Have been conducting further investigation into the robbery incident. The officials have confirmed that the victim had been confronted by two suspects. One of the suspects produced a knife during the robbery. His accomplice fled and was not located by the members of the reaction unit. The officials have shared that they also search for the accomplice who had fled the scene of the incident before the Reaction Unit Team arrived.
A thorough search for the second man was conducted and the team was able to find the wallet and cellphone of the victim. The officials have shared that the investigation led the team to find the knife which had been used in the robbery .
The knife was found in the possession of the individual who had initially fled the scene of crime. In the aftermath of the incident, the victim declined to register a criminal case as his valuables had been recovered and returned to him.
At this point, the suspect was thereafter released. He sustained injuries during his apprehension with the reaction unit south africa and previously with the member of the public who was trying to subdue him.
The suspect is a known criminal and was previously arrested by Reaction Officers for theft. See less
