Botswana: Botswana Telecommunication Corporation launched the 4th BTC Francistown Marathon. The marathon was hosted on Thursday with several members of the community in attendance.
The event was hosted in Francistown with several district councils from all over the world marking their presence at the event. The event is hosted every year with the aim of bringing the people together from all over the nation.
BTC also handed over donations to beneficiaries who have been selected to benefit from proceeds made from the 3rd BTC Francistown Marathon that was held last year in April. The marathon served as a platform for the organization to support the government offices and other partner organizations.
Tonota District Council was amongst the district councils in the northern side of Botswana that received the donations. The donations were meant to address challenges faced by district councils in various sectors.
Hence Tonota District Council received P102,950.87 for the procurement of school furniture (1,200 chairs and 250 kids’ tables). The officials were grateful for the support and encouragement of the organization. They claimed that the donation will help them create a lasting legacy for the members of the district.
They extended their sincere gratitude to the members of the Botswana Telecommunication service for their generosity. The Tonota District Council has shared the images from the Marathon where they participated wholeheartedly.
Chairman of the district council Andy Boatile delivered the appreciation remarks, on behalf of Tonota District Council. He acknowledged the kind gesture by BTC in positively impacting the communities.
He said these donations came at the right time to address the challenges faced by districts. He appreciated that the donations were to cover education and health sectors.
Furthermore, Chairman Boatile said as beneficiaries they will commit to taking good care of the donations and wished BTC Marathon growth and success highlighting that the more the marathon grows, the more communities will benefit from this BTC Corporate Social investment initiative.
Other beneficiaries of the donation were North-East District Council , Tutume District Council and Francistown Athletics Club.
