Botswana: The Director of Development and Finance, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SACP), Odikilwe Majama has the Botswana Police Service acknowledge the importance of the churches. She said that the churches play a highly crucial role in the development of the community.
She made these remarks during the United Congregational Church of Southern Africa (UCCSA) 10KM sponsored walk. The programme was done in Lentsweletau in the morning hours of Saturday. The Director was the Chief Walker of the United Congregational Church of Southern Africa (UCCSA) 10KM sponsored walk.
Odikilwe Majama was present at the event on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Dinah Marathe and also made a donation on behalf of BPS.
The Botswana Police Service has been working dedicatedly to bring the community together through various initiatives. The SACP Majama shared that churches are leading pioneers in community building.
They are responsible for giving the people of the country spiritual upliftment and counselling to members of the community as well as police officers. She said they also play a very important role in addressing the various issues that are affecting the society at large. The churches are also crucial in promoting peace and coexistence within the nation.
The officer also said that the Police can combat the issue of Gender based violence and other national issues with the help of the churches. The police service has been working hard to make sure that the various organizations can contribute to community building.
The Director of Botswana Police Force has urged the UCCSA and its members to continue aligning themselves with god. They can take help from churches or other various stakeholders.
The Botswana Police Service (BPS) donated Five Thousand Pula (P5 000.00) to the church. The donation was supposed to make sure that the churches can continue to be a safe space for the people.
The UCCSA Properties Committee member, Professor David Sebudubudu has appreciated BPS for donating money to the church. Professor Sebudubudu said the walk aimed to raise funds for the renovation of the church and mission house.
