Botswana: The six-day state visit of the Prime Minister of Bahamas, Philip E Davis is facilitating significant collaborations between the two regions. The Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (BUAN) has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the BAHAMAS Agriculture and Marine Science Institute (BAMSI).
The signing ceremony for the MoU was hosted on Wednesday at the Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources. The President of BAMSI Dr Raveenia Roberts-Hanna was invited to deliver a lecture at the university premises on the same morning.
The topic for Dr Roberts-Hanna’s lecture was “The African-Caribbean Climate Action on Adaptation and Mitigation Measure”. During her remarks, the President of BAMSI shared her views on how Africa and the Caribbean can come together and work towards initiating climate action.
Dr Roberts-Hanna forms part of the delegation accompanying the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas Mr. Philip E. Davis.
The leaders of the Caribbean have emerged as one of the most vocal advocates of Climate Action in the world. The Prime Minister of Bahamas, who is currently in Botswana for a 6-day official visit, has been seeking increased collaboration with the government of Botswana.
During his trip to the Prime Minister of the Bahamas, he urged Botswana and the rest of the African continent to work together for mutual development.
The two organizations have been working together for the last several months. The two educational institutions had previously signed a MoU intending to collaborate for the development in agriculture and education.

Meanwhile, the President of BAMSI, Dr Raveenia Hanna, signed on behalf of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. The Ministry of Education and Skill Development shared glimpses of the signing ceremony.
